OEM and Private Label VFD Options for Pump Distributors

Pump distributors should choose an OEM or private-label VFD program only after the electrical ratings, pump functions, default parameters and service documents have been validated. A logo and custom carton do not make an untested drive configuration ready for resale.

What Information Is Required?

• Motor nameplates for the main pump power and current ranges.
• Local input supply, output voltage and frequency.
• Pump applications, motor types and required control functions.
• Expected quantities, preferred stock keeping units and annual demand.
• Logo files, model naming, label content, packaging and manual languages.
• Required parameter presets, accessories and sample tests.
• Local marking, certification and importer-document requirements.

Selection Example

A distributor sells 2.2 kW, 4 kW and 5.5 kW three-phase booster pumps under its own brand. The correct process is to compare the nameplate current of each motor with the proposed VFD output rating, confirm the local supply, and validate one sample configuration on representative pumps. Pressure control, sensor input, sleep/wake behavior and fault handling should be checked before the parameter file, model name, label and packaging revision are approved.

This creates a traceable branded range. It does not mean the same parameter set can be copied to every motor or application.

Common Mistakes

• Approving artwork before the technical configuration.
• Selecting only by motor kW and ignoring rated current.
• Printing unconfirmed ratings or certification marks on the label.
• Using one default parameter file for different pumps and motor types.
• Ordering a broad branded range before completing sample validation.
