Pump distributors can reduce after-sales problems by controlling selection and setup before delivery. Match the VFD to motor current and supply, keep application-specific parameter baselines, give installers a short commissioning checklist and require operating evidence before treating a fault as a product failure.

What Information Is Required?

  • Motor nameplate voltage, rated current, power, frequency and motor type.
  • Site supply voltage, phase and stability.
  • Pump type, hydraulic duty and required pressure control.
  • Pressure-sensor range, signal type, wiring and installation location.
  • VFD model, serial or revision information and parameter backup.
  • Fault code, output current, frequency, pressure and event conditions.
  • Photographs of power, motor, grounding and control wiring.

Selection Example

A customer reports that a 4 kW pump VFD trips after commissioning. Before approving a replacement, the dealer collects the motor nameplate, selected drive rating, voltage under load, fault code, output current, operating frequency, pressure reading, sensor wiring and parameter file.

If the motor current exceeds the selected drive's confirmed rating, the selection must be corrected. If the trip follows an incorrect sensor or parameter setup, the configuration and installation should be corrected and retested. Exchanging hardware without this evidence may leave the original cause unchanged.
