IP54 Motor-Mounted VFD for a Horizontal End-Suction Pump

Engineering reference image; mounting hardware must be approved for the actual motor.
An IP54 AUSENIST pump VFD can be integrated with a horizontal end-suction pump when the mounting bracket, orientation, vibration, cooling and cable entries are designed for that motor. IP54 means limited protection against dust and water ingress; it does not mean the drive may be submerged or exposed to unrestricted hose washing.
Recommended Configuration
| Item | Reference Selection |
|---|---|
| Pump | Horizontal end-suction centrifugal pump |
| Motor | Three-phase induction or supported PMSM |
| Drive | AUSENIST YS620 or YS820, selected by current |
| Protection | IP54 product configuration |
| Mounting | Approved motor or bracket-mounted arrangement |
| Feedback | Pressure, flow or external speed command |
What Must Be Confirmed?
- Motor frame, terminal-box dimensions and available mounting points.
- Vibration level and permissible drive orientation.
- Ambient temperature and airflow around the motor.
- Cable-gland direction, drainage and service access.
- Pump duty, motor current and feedback signal.
Selection Logic
Confirm mechanical fit before producing brackets. Maintain required cooling clearances and prevent pipe strain or motor vibration from loading the VFD enclosure. Route sensor wiring away from output conductors. Installation position must not create a path for condensation or water to enter a gland.
Common Mistakes
- Treating IP54 as fully waterproof.
- Copying a vertical-pump bracket onto a horizontal motor.
- Blocking cooling surfaces or maintenance access.
- Allowing cable entries to face accumulated water.
AUSENIST Solution
AUSENIST can review the motor frame, prepare a pump-mounted configuration, preset motor/control parameters and support OEM appearance. Unverified brackets, severe vibration or direct washdown require redesign or an additional enclosure.
FAQ
Can it mount on any pump brand?
Compatibility depends on the motor frame and mounting interface, not the brand name alone.
Is a control cabinet unnecessary?
The drive may not need a large cabinet, but upstream protection, isolation and project controls are still required.
Can it be installed outdoors?
Only after weather, sunlight, condensation and ingress protection are reviewed.
